Human Design is a revolutionary system of self-knowledge and decision-making that synthesizes ancient wisdom and modern science. It offers a practical, mechanical understanding of how you are uniquely designed to operate in the world. Unlike other systems that generalize, Human Design is the science of differentiation—it reveals the specific mechanics of your individuality.
At its core, Human Design is a tool for living as yourself. It provides a map of your genetic blueprint, known as the BodyGraph, which shows how energy flows through your system and how you are designed to interact with the world. This map is calculated using your birth data and incorporates elements from the I’Ching, astrology, Kabbalah, the Hindu-Brahman chakra system, and quantum physics.
How does the Human Design System Work?
A fundamental aspect of Human Design is based on what is scientifically known as the Neutrino.
Neutrinos are unusual particles that carry an infinitesimal amount of mass. About 3 trillion neutrinos, and the material information they carry, pass through every square inch of the planet per second. Our Sun produces about 70 percent of all neutrinos that travel through our solar system, with the remaining 30 percent emitted by other stars in our Galaxy, and a small amount from the planet Jupiter.
In 2015, the scientists Takaaki Kajita (Super-Kamiokande Collaboration) and Arthur B. McDonald (Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Collaboration) were awarded a Nobel Prize for the discovery of neutrino oscillations, which shows that neutrinos have mass. Ra Uru Hu published this as the science behind the Human Design System as early as 1991.
Since Neutrinos have an infinitesimally small amount of mass, as the stream passes through us it leaves information. It is a stream of information, and within each of us exist particles that connect us to the stream. At the moment of birth, we are imprinted by the information carried by the neutrino stream via the planets. This imprint is reflected within your Human Design Chart, and determines your particular Design. This information provides us with the knowledge to understand our nature, potential, and forms of interaction.

April 9, 1948
The Birth of Ra Uru Hu
Ra was born Alan (Robert) Krakower in Montreal, Canada on April 9, 1948. He spent his early years there, eventually earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. His career led him into the business world as an advertising executive, magazine publisher, and media producer. However, the arts held a special place in his life, allowing him to express himself as a musician and performer throughout his lifetime.
Spring 1983
From Canada to Ibiza, Spain
In 1983, Alan made a sudden decision to leave Canada. He disappeared from the lives of his loved ones and eventually ended up in Ibiza, Spain. Here he became Ra (short for Robert) and spent the subsequent years deconditioning from his western lifestyle and experiencing a series of unusual, mystical events–ultimately culminating in the revelation of the Human Design System.
January 3-11, 1987
Encounter with the Voice
In January 1987, Ra had a transcendent experience with “a Voice,” an intelligence far beyond anything he had ever experienced. This encounter lasted eight days and nights, during which he received a transmission of what is now known as the Human Design System. This event coincided with SN 1987A, a supernova that sent neutrinos cascading across the universe, reaching Earth from 160,000 light years away. Watch Ra describe the experience.
Late 80’s
The Human Design System
A couple months after the encounter, Ra gave the first Human Design reading. Over time, he read thousands of people’s charts, trained hundreds of analysts and teachers, and established a thriving ecosystem of international Human Design education.
1991
The Black Book
In 1991, Ra published the first book about the Human Design System, The Black Book, which included the first publication of The Rave I’Ching–the foundation upon which Human Design rests and the key to unlocking the code of our genetics. In The Black Book, Ra posited the neutrinos, which he claimed possess an infinitesimally small mass, were the scientific foundation of the Human Design System.
1999
The Founding of Jovian Archive
Twelve years after his encounter, Ra and his family founded Jovian Archive. The website, jovianarchive.com, was launched on January 27, 2000. The term “Jovian” relates to the god or planet Jupiter, which played a significant role in Ra’s journey. As he wrote in The White Book, From the Book of Letters, “Twelve years is the Jupitarian cycle around the zodiac. Jupiter, the teacher, put me through my paces. I am Jupitarian by nature and through Design have come to recognize the deep impact that this force has on my life.”
March 12, 2011
The Passing of Ra Uru Hu
After dedicating nearly 25 years of his life to developing and teaching the Human Design System, Ra Uru Hu passed away at his home in Ibiza in the early hours of March 12, 2011. He was a beloved friend, sibling, husband, father, and teacher. His sudden death was a shock to everyone. Since then, his family has continued the work of disseminating his teachings.

Validation of Neutrinos' Mass
In 2015, scientists Takaaki Kajita (Super-Kamiokande Collaboration) and Arthur B. McDonald (Sudbury Neutrino Observatory Collaboration) were awarded the Nobel Prize for their discovery of neutrino oscillations, demonstrating that neutrinos do indeed have mass. Ra Uru Hu had stated this in his 1991 publication, The Black Book, as the scientific basis of the Human Design System.
